Reborn on My Birthday: Deepika’s 25-Kg Transformation and the Health Journey That Changed Her Life

By Deepika

From 90 kg and low energy to losing 25 kg in 10 months, becoming a certified nutrition coach, and transforming more than 150 lives—Deepika’s story is not simply about weight loss. It is about choosing health, purpose and more time with the people she loves.

The Day I Decided to Be Reborn

Some birthdays are about celebration.

Mine became a turning point.

On 22 February 2022, my birthday, I made a decision that would change the direction of my life. I intentionally chose that day to begin my fat-loss journey because I wanted every birthday thereafter to remind me of how far I had travelled—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.

The trigger was surprisingly ordinary.

I casually stepped onto a weighing scale.

90 kilograms.

The number startled me, but the scale wasn’t really telling me anything I didn’t already know. My energy levels were low, I didn’t feel like the best version of myself, and photographs had begun reflecting a story I wasn’t ready to ignore anymore.

That day, I decided I wanted to change.

Not simply to become thinner.

I wanted to become healthier.

And, more importantly, I wanted to become a better version of myself.

From a Personal Challenge to a Life Mission

“If I Can’t Change My Own Life, How Can I Coach Someone Else?”

I knew that motivation alone wouldn’t be enough.

I needed knowledge.

So I enrolled in the INFS Diploma course, determined to understand nutrition, fitness and the science behind sustainable transformation. But I didn’t want to learn merely from textbooks or online lessons.

I wanted to apply what I learned to myself.

I began treating myself as my first client.

Every lesson became an experiment in my own life. Every practical concept became something I could test, understand and experience.

I firmly believed:

If I couldn’t change my own life, I couldn’t genuinely coach someone else to change theirs.

That belief became one of the foundations of my journey.

And today, I can proudly say:

I was my first client—and I am proud of the transformation I created.

25 Kilograms Down in 10 Months

The journey wasn’t built on overnight solutions.

It was built on learning, consistency and patience.

Over the course of 10 months, I lost 25 kilograms, moving from 90 kg to approximately 65 kg.

But the number on the scale was only one part of the transformation.

The bigger changes were happening elsewhere.

My relationship with food changed.

My understanding of exercise changed.

My confidence changed.

My energy changed.

And perhaps most importantly, my identity changed.

I stopped thinking of fitness as something I needed to “finish.”

It became part of who I was.

The Transformation Beyond the Mirror

It Was Never Just About Looking Different

Looking at photographs from different stages of my journey makes the physical transformation obvious.

But photographs cannot capture everything.

They cannot show the discipline behind the transformation.

They cannot show the days when motivation was absent.

They cannot show the lessons learned from setbacks.

They cannot show the confidence that comes from keeping promises you make to yourself.

The woman in the photographs today isn’t simply someone who weighs less.

She is someone who understands her body better, respects her health more deeply and has developed a completely different relationship with fitness.

The transformation was physical—but it was also educational, emotional and personal.

From Student to Certified Coach

My own transformation made me want to understand the subject even more deeply.

So I continued learning.

I completed multiple courses in clinical nutrition and went on to clear my Advanced Diploma Certification from INFS.

The more I learned, the more I realised how much misinformation surrounds health and weight loss.

There is no universal shortcut.

There is no magic food.

There is no perfect diet.

And there is certainly no transformation that can be sustained without changing behaviour.

What works is understanding your body, building realistic habits, learning how nutrition fits into your life and staying consistent long enough for those habits to become part of your identity.

From Being My First Client to Coaching 150+ Lives

Turning Personal Experience Into Purpose

My transformation eventually became the beginning of another journey: helping others transform their lives.

Since then, I have had the privilege of coaching and transforming 150+ lives globally.

Every client has taught me something.

Every transformation has reminded me that people don’t simply need meal plans or workout schedules. They need education, accountability, empathy and someone who understands that real life doesn’t always follow a perfect plan.

My own journey helps me approach coaching differently.

I know what it feels like to stand in front of a mirror and want change.

I know what it feels like to begin.

I know how difficult consistency can be.

And I know that sustainable transformation is about far more than a number on a weighing scale.

The Real Reason I Keep Going

Losing My Father Changed My Definition of Health

People often ask me:

“What keeps you motivated?”

The honest answer isn’t a motivational quote.

It is something much deeper.

I lost my father after chronic sickness.

Losing a parent teaches you one of life’s hardest lessons: there are certain emotional voids that nothing and no one can completely replace.

That experience changed the way I look at health.

It made me realise that health isn’t merely about looking good in photographs or fitting into a particular dress size.

Health is time.

Time with the people you love.

Time to watch your children grow.

Time to celebrate their achievements.

Time to guide them through difficult moments.

Time to create memories.

And that is something I never want to take for granted.

I Want to Be There for My Son

My Biggest Motivation Is Not the Mirror

I am a mother.

And I don’t want my son to lose me before my time.

I want to be there to watch him grow.

I want to cheer for his dreams.

I want to guide him through life’s challenges.

I want to celebrate his successes and stand beside him when life doesn’t go according to plan.

Most importantly, I want him to know that he is never alone.

That is why I choose to invest in my health every single day.

Not because I am chasing perfection.

Not because I want to look a certain way forever.

But because I want more healthy years with the people I love.

That is my definition of fitness.

Fitness Is My Investment in the Future

We often think of health as something we should care about after a problem appears.

My experience has taught me to think differently.

Every workout is an investment.

Every balanced meal is an investment.

Every hour of sleep is an investment.

Every healthy habit is an investment.

The returns aren’t always visible immediately.

But they accumulate.

Strength accumulates.

Fitness accumulates.

Confidence accumulates.

Knowledge accumulates.

And so does the possibility of living more healthy years.

Why I Coach

My Work Is Bigger Than Fat Loss

My coaching journey is deeply personal because I know where it began.

It began with me standing on a weighing scale at 90 kg.

It continued with a decision to learn.

Then came 25 kg of weight loss.

Then certifications.

Then coaching.

And eventually, more than 150 people whose journeys became part of mine.

But the purpose goes beyond numbers.

If I can help even one person understand their health better, build sustainable habits and potentially avoid some of the suffering my family experienced, then my work has meaning far beyond fat loss or fitness.

That is what drives me.

The Woman I Became

My Transformation Didn’t End at 65 Kg

There is a tendency to look at before-and-after photographs and believe the story ends with the “after.”

For me, it didn’t.

The photographs simply capture two moments in a much longer story.

The real transformation was becoming a woman who decided to take responsibility for her health—and then kept choosing that responsibility every day.

I am still learning.

Still training.

Still improving.

Still studying.

Still evolving.

And perhaps that is the most important lesson my journey has taught me:

Transformation isn’t a destination. It is a relationship you build with yourself.

A Birthday Promise That Became a Life Philosophy

On 22 February 2022, I wanted to be “reborn” as a different personality.

Looking back, I realise I didn’t become a completely different person.

I became more deeply connected to the person I wanted to be.

The scale gave me a wake-up call.

Education gave me direction.

Discipline gave me results.

Loss gave me perspective.

And coaching gave my journey purpose.

Today, I don’t celebrate my transformation simply because I lost 25 kilograms.

I celebrate it because I gained something far more valuable:

a healthier relationship with my body, a deeper understanding of nutrition, a stronger sense of purpose, and the opportunity to help other people change their lives.

And every birthday gives me another reason to look back—not with regret, but with gratitude.

Because the greatest transformation isn’t becoming someone else.

It is becoming the healthiest, strongest and most purposeful version of yourself.
