India Mobile Congress 2020 being organized in virtual mode

The largest technology event India Mobile Congress (IMC 2020) has started from 8 December. There will be many big announcements related to technology and mobile world in this event lasting three days. For the first time India Mobile Congress has been held virtually due to Corona.

IMC 2020 has been organized by the department of telecommunications and the COAI.

* The theme for IMC 2020 is “Inclusive Innovation – Smart, Secure, Sustainable” and it aims to align to the prime minister’s vision to promote ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, ‘digital inclusivity’, and ‘sustainable development, entrepreneurship and innovation’.

IMC 2020 saw participation from various ministries, telecom CEOs, global CEOs, and domain experts in 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Data Analytics, Cloud and Edge computing, Blockchain, Cyber-security, Smart Cities and Automation.

 It also aims to drive foreign and local investments, encourage Research and Development in the telecom and emerging technology sectors.

Addressing India Mobile Congress 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it is because of your innovation and efforts that the world continues to go on despite the epidemic. It is because of your efforts that a son was associated with his mother in a different city, a student learned from his teacher without coming to class. Let us work together to make India a global hub in telecommunications equipment, design, development and manufacturing. Modi said in India Mobile Congress, India has the lowest mobile rates and our country is the fastest growing app market. At the same time Modi also said that due to mobile technology, we are seeing billions of cashless transactions today, which is encouraging transparency.

 In a speech during the India Mobile Congress (IMC2020), Chairman of Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani spoke about the 5G plan in India. According to Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Jio will launch 5G in the second half of 2021 in India. Billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani while addressing the inaugural session of India Mobile Congress (IMC) said that this will enable 2G customers to also take advantage of digital changes. The Chairman of Reliance Industries said that today India is the best digital connected country in the world. He said that even today, 30 crore customers in the country are ‘trapped’ in 2G and need policy intervention to bring them into smartphones. These customers will also be able to do digital transactions through smartphones.

Indian will be ready to reap benefits of global investments in 5G standards and ecosystem in the next two-three years when 5G is expected to become a norm in the mobile broadband space, Bharti Enterprises Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said on Tuesday.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the Indian Mobile Congress 2020, Mr Mittal said that the onset of the pandemic has accelerated digital adoption of various products and services and in a sense has been a boon for digitalization of the country.

“I’ve been particularly excited about the upcoming 5G, which in the next two or three years will start to become the norm in the mobile broadband space. As the world settles down on the 5G space, pricing of the equipment comes down, and importantly the devices start getting available in plentiful, India to my mind in two or three years time will be ready to receive the benefit of the investments that the globe would have made on 5G standard and 5G ecosystem,” Mr Mittal said.
