Sonia : A motivation

Spread the love

I am glad to share my transformation journey (not only physical but psychological as well). I come from a typical middle-class family background where formal academics are of paramount importance. And if you come from a tier-III town, it’s another set of struggles. I was blessed to have a loving family that always supported my ambition. Those who know me personally are aware that I was in the teaching profession for almost a decade, however as it happens with everyone I completely neglected my health and compromised on such important aspects of life. While I got recognized for my efforts in the teaching industry, there was something at the back of my mind that I was not comfortable with my physical well-being. I was constantly gaining weight and found little or no time for myself.Read more about Sonia

Turning Point for Sonia

As my frustration peaked, I was trying to figure out the best way out of it. I had a choice of sitting at home or continue with the “teaching profession”. It was not an easy decision to make at all. Meanwhile, I became obsessed with fitness, and health regimes.

After giving it a great thought & quite a bit of to-&-fro, I decided to take a plunge into it. I started my fitness journey – physically and academically. At the age of 37 and being a mom of a teenager, I worked hard to achieve my fitness goal and lost 23 kgs, got down from 79 kgs to 56kgs. All of this transformation happened without any supplements or the so-called “diets”. I followed quantified nutrition and resistance training and made these a part of my lifestyle.

From the academic perspective, I was confident and trusted my capabilities that I’ll be able to pull it off. Coming from a non-science background, and here I was studying body anatomy at length J. I completed my course and got the “expert” certification from the Institute of Nutrition and Fitness Sciences (INFS). Not only I completed the course in record time, but I was also hired as a nutrition and fitness coach by FITTR, one of the biggest names in the fitness industry.

In retrospect, when I look back I realized a few things and it gives me immense satisfaction to share some of these. I implemented all the learnings on myself and saw the results speak for themselves. I did not opt for any short-cuts or compared my journey/ fitness objectives with others. I kept my focus every single day/ week/ month.

Not only it gave me an immense sense of achievement for my own confidence, but it also gives me great happiness that I am able to transform so many lives in this journey in a healthy way. I am glad to share that I’ve been recognized as one of the front-runners in “Community Helper” programs by FITTR. I am also an active member of the mission 50-million program initiated by INFS. I’ve been conducting several fitness webinars on a recurring basis to make people aware of “fitness secrets” without any magic pill and supplements. I help people dealing with lifestyle disorders such as PCOD/ PCOS, Thyroid, Diabetes, etc… along with the proper guidance and importance of a healthy lifestyle. The recent pandemic Covid has set another example of how fitness is the ultimate shield against any deadly disease.

Sonia’s message to the community

If you are still reading this article, I assume you are really serious about your health and fitness concerns. My recommendation is not to neglect your health at all. Keep the focus on what you consume on a daily basis. Take time out (at least 30-mins) for your workout. Make it a part of your lifestyle and not just a fashion statement. To summarise, it’s not as difficult as it may sound. Always remember, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way”.
