Excuses Are Always Available. I Just Refuse to Pick Any

By Coach Simran Kaur

The Chaos of Everyday Life

Same tasks. Same chaos. The same endless to-do list.

  • Kids to school.
  • Calls with mentees.
  • Cooking between meetings.
  • Making sure my kids eat right.
  • Cleaning up, setting things in order.
  • Helping with school assignments.
  • Trying to stay socially connected.

It’s a day like any other—packed, overwhelming, and full of responsibilities. A day that could have been an excuse to skip my workout. But I still showed up.

No audience. No cheers. No one patting me on the back.

Just discipline.

Why I Refuse to Pick Excuses

Life will always be busy. Responsibilities won’t disappear. There will always be something demanding my time and attention. If I waited for the “perfect moment” to focus on my fitness, I would never start.

And that’s what most people do—they wait for motivation. They wait for an easier schedule. They wait for the “right time.” But the truth is, if you don’t make time, you’ll always find an excuse.

I have two choices every single day:

  1. Find an excuse.
  2. Find a way.

I choose the second one.

Discipline Over Motivation

Motivation is unreliable. Some days, I wake up ready to crush my workout. Other days, I’m exhausted. But that’s where discipline steps in.

  • Discipline is training when I’m tired.
  • Discipline is choosing healthy meals when junk food is tempting.
  • Discipline is showing up, even when no one is watching.

Motivation is what gets you started. Discipline is what keeps you going.

The Power of Showing Up

I could have skipped my workout today. I could have justified it with my hectic schedule. But I reminded myself—every small effort adds up.

Every rep, every workout, every meal choice—it all compounds into progress.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

  • The hardest part is starting. Once you begin, momentum takes over.
  • Excuses feel good in the moment but hold you back in the long run.
  • You never regret a workout. But you always regret skipping one.

Building the Streak—One Day at a Time

It’s not about perfection. It’s about consistency.

  • One missed workout turns into a week off.
  • One unhealthy meal turns into a habit.
  • One excuse turns into a pattern.

I refuse to let that happen. I choose discipline. I choose consistency. I choose progress.

So, What’s Your Excuse?

You can either find a reason to delay or a reason to commit. The choice is yours.

Will you let excuses define your life, or will you take control?

I made my choice. I refuse to pick excuses. What about you?
