Ranjana’s life took a profound turn in 2015 when she got married and soon after conceived her first child. However, the joy quickly turned to sorrow as she experienced two early miscarriages. In 2018, after enduring a challenging pregnancy filled with heavy medications and extended bed rest, she was blessed with her “rainbow baby.” Just 14 months later, she welcomed her second child through another C-section, which led to significant weight gain.
As Ranjana embarked on her journey to shed the extra pounds, she began noticing swelling in her ankle. What initially seemed like a minor injury spiraled into a diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis. Further medical tests revealed an even more daunting challenge—extrapulmonary tuberculosis. As she struggled to cope with these health issues, her blood pressure suddenly spiked, resulting in multiple ICU visits. It was then discovered that she had a blocked artery between her heart and kidney and a rare autoimmune disorder known as Takayasu Arteritis, which causes severe artery inflammation and blockages.
Ranjana’s first angioplasty was unsuccessful due to a completely occluded artery, but she didn’t give up. A second attempt at CMC Vellore succeeded, bringing her blood pressure under control. However, the ordeal left her with a non-functional left kidney and a right kidney operating at just 50%.
Despite these overwhelming setbacks, Ranjana’s determination never wavered. She went on to complete a diploma course and fulfill her dream of becoming a fitness and nutrition coach. Today, she channels her struggles into strength, helping others achieve their best health at Fittr, turning her pain into a source of inspiration.
