Captain Sarita Rajput, an ex-army officer, has not only served her country but also conquered personal health battles, emerging as a beacon of inspiration in the fitness world. Her journey from military nursing to becoming a certified nutrition and fitness coach is a compelling story of resilience, determination, and transformation.
Sarita began her career with the Indian Army, serving in the Military Nursing Services for six years. Her dedication to the well-being of soldiers was unwavering, but when her husband secured a job in Singapore, Sarita chose to prioritize her family and relocated with him. During this time, she pursued further education, earning an MSc in Health Sciences Management from Northumbria University, UK, and worked as a clinical coder in Singapore’s government hospitals.
In 2018, Sarita’s life took an unexpected turn during her second pregnancy. She was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia—a trio of serious health conditions that required immediate attention. Weighing between 70-80 kg at the time, Sarita was placed on a strict regimen of insulin injections, diet management, and medication to control her blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure. The realization that her young children needed a healthy, active mother drove her to make significant lifestyle changes.
Determined to take control of her health, Sarita sought the help of an Ayurvedic doctor in Pune, who emphasized the importance of weight loss in managing her conditions. With a diet rich in millets, dairy, and green vegetables, along with brisk walking for 45 minutes daily, she managed to lose 20 kgs in just six months. This success marked the beginning of her deep interest in health and fitness.
Sarita’s transformation journey didn’t stop with weight loss. She was introduced to the Fittr community, where she learned about the importance of quantification and resistance training. Joining a gym in Singapore, Sarita not only maintained her weight loss but also built strength, further fueling her passion for fitness.
After returning to India in 2020, Sarita’s passion for fitness led her to complete a Diploma in Nutrition and Fitness from INFS. Now a certified nutrition and fitness coach, she dedicates her time to educating others about nutrition, strength training, and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Her journey has inspired many, and she continues to guide others in their fitness journeys.
Sarita’s dedication to health and fitness was recognized on a larger stage when she was crowned Mrs. Uttar Pradesh Runner-Up in 2023. This achievement is a testament to her hard work and the remarkable transformation she has undergone.
Currently pursuing an MSc in Nutrition and Dietetics from IGNOU, Sarita’s thirst for knowledge remains unquenched. She aspires to further her education with a PhD in Nutrition. For her, fitness is a lifelong journey, one that she embraces with enthusiasm every day.
Captain Sarita Rajput’s story is a powerful reminder that no challenge is too great when met with determination and a commitment to change. Her transformation from an army officer to a health advocate serves as an inspiration for all who seek to improve their lives and the lives of others.
Through her unwavering commitment to health and fitness, Sarita successfully reversed her diabetes and eliminated the need for all medications. This triumph is a powerful example of how lifestyle changes can drastically improve one’s health.
